Shameless Wii remote clone for the PS3

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

If you thought the Playstation Move was a shameless attempt to jump on the Wii bandwagon, you probably haven’t seen this gem yet. For $32.56/€24.17, you can now waggle your way through the Playstation 3 game library. The 3D Motion Freedom Controller doesn’t have a nunchuk or the pointer functionality of the Wii, but it’s not like your parents will notice that when waving the controller around like a mad monkey. At least it comes with a totally awesome steering wheel so you still get that Mario Kart feeling when playing Gran Turismo. It’s also compatible with PCs. Hardcore gamers only.

PS2 to Wii converter

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Nothing is worse than a gaming friend who blames his epic loss on the Wii controller, because he’s used to the PS2’s Dual Shock controller. With the PEGA Playstation 2 PS2 to Wii/NGC GameCube Controller Adapter ($11.74/€8.24) this won’t happen anymore. It lets you use the good ol’ Dual Shock on the Nintendo Wii. However, DealExtreme failed to write a correct description. This adapter does not work with the Gamecube or Gamecube games on the Wii. Instead, you plug it into the Wiimote, so the Dual Shock works as a Classic Controller Pro. It’s also very unlikely that it supports rumble, because Nintendo’s own solutions don’t support it either.

If you want an adapter to use a PS2 controller for Gamecube games, get this one for $4.23/€2.97. Just keep in mind you have to plug this directly into your console and that it won’t work with some Wii games that only support the Classic Controller, like PES 2009 and Monster Hunter 3.
