Final conclusion
The Ramos T11TE is an outstanding video player. With a 5″ high resolution touchscreen, RGB/HDMI output and 1080p video playback, it’s a very impressive device. Not even brands like Apple and Archos offer a feature set like this on any of their devices. Besides video playback, the T11TE doesn’t perform particularly stellar, but that might just be a good thing. With no gimmicks like cameras, accelerometers or wifi, the price is kept suprisingly low. Priced at $148.99/€109.97, it’s both cheaper and a better video player than any other player from a household brand. Highly recommended.

How does the Tokyo Magnitude video, or anime in general, play? Do the subtitles show up properly/readable? Do they play smoothly?
Video playback is very smooth. No problems at all. Subtitles were a problem though. It seemed quite random whether or not they popped up. Quite annoying. However, when they work, it’s all smooth and readable. If you have the option of burned in subtitles, that seems to be the way to go until there is a firmware update that fixes the problem.
What would you recommend as a portable anime player without conversion, if the subtitles on this player are quite random?
I just received the Ramos T17HD and it handles subtitles just fine. Works great with MKV, although it is a bit less powerful than the T11TE. Heavy 1080p videos are less smooth and WMV files aren’t supported. Expect a full review soon.
Does 720p run fine? I don’t have any videos in 1080p so 1080p doesn’t really matter to me.
I was going to get this one but ended up getting the T12HD. Hey, you wouldn’t happen to still have the original wallpaper that came on the T11TE, would you? (this one: http://www.jiongtang.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/T11TE-RE-20.jpg) I’ve been looking for it everywhere! Could you possibly upload it somewhere (like imageshack)?
My T11TE did’t come with that wallpaper, but with pictures of flowers and stuff. Seems like the background only exists in early product images.
