Design

The case of the Ramos T11 TE is made out of an metal frame with a black plastic backside. It looks rather slick and is very solid. With it’s 320g the T11 TE is a bit heavy, but feels comfortable in your hands. Overall, the look and feel is that of a high quality device. Much better than you would expect for this price.
With a 5″ screen, it’s impossible to call this device small. But suprisingly, it still fits easily into a regular jeans pocket.
A few dedicated hardware buttons on the device would’ve been useful, but otherwise there is nothing to complain about in this department.
Hardware

The first thing you’ll notice about the Ramos T11TE is the 5″ 800×480 touchscreen. Colours and brightness are pretty good, but viewing angles fare less well. Especially when tilting the device backwards, the screen gets pretty dark. However, it’s still a pleasure to watch videos on this display. The screen size hits the sweet spot between comfortable viewing and portability. The Ramos T11TE has a resistive touchscreen, which are quite common on devices with a screen size like this. It’s a bit less responsive than a capacitive touchscreen found on devices like the iPod Touch and the Zune, but I didn’t encounter any problems controlling this PMP with my fingers. Ramos clearly designed the T11TE to be finger friendly and didn’t even include a stylus.
If you have a bigger screen within reach, you can easily connect the Ramos using the RGB or HDMI outputs. Once you set it up, the device functions as a media player, with a more basic interface that can be controlled using the included remote control. Unfortunately, there is no HDMI cable included.
The Ramos T11TE comes with 16GB built-in memory, which can be expanded with a MicroSD card. It’s also possible to connect any USB storage device using the supplied USB OTG cable. This is very useful at home. Just connect a USB hard drive, hook it up to your tv and you can watch all your 1080p videos in their full glory.
Battery life is also pretty good, we got about 5 hours of video playback on the default brightness settings and around 12 hours of music playback with the screen turned off.
There is a mono speaker on the backside and as expected, sound quality is quite bad. Good enough to show a short video to a friend, but you don’t want to watch a movie using the speaker.

I would like to ask you to make a review of a product. Can you contact me via email?
I already posted this on the YT video, but I guess I’ll post it here anyway
How does the Tokyo Magnitude video, or anime in general, play? Do the subtitles show up properly/readable? Do they play smoothly?
Video playback is very smooth. No problems at all. Subtitles were a problem though. It seemed quite random whether or not they popped up. Quite annoying. However, when they work, it’s all smooth and readable. If you have the option of burned in subtitles, that seems to be the way to go until there is a firmware update that fixes the problem.
What would you recommend as a portable anime player without conversion, if the subtitles on this player are quite random?
I just received the Ramos T17HD and it handles subtitles just fine. Works great with MKV, although it is a bit less powerful than the T11TE. Heavy 1080p videos are less smooth and WMV files aren’t supported. Expect a full review soon.
Does 720p run fine? I don’t have any videos in 1080p so 1080p doesn’t really matter to me.
I was going to get this one but ended up getting the T12HD. Hey, you wouldn’t happen to still have the original wallpaper that came on the T11TE, would you? (this one: http://www.jiongtang.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/T11TE-RE-20.jpg) I’ve been looking for it everywhere! Could you possibly upload it somewhere (like imageshack)?
My T11TE did’t come with that wallpaper, but with pictures of flowers and stuff. Seems like the background only exists in early product images.
Oh, OK. Thanks, anyway!
I can’t believe you’re not payilng with me–that was so helpful.
where can i buy it?
I bought the Ramos T11TE from this webshop
Yeah, 720p works flawless.
